Friday.  Nuff Said!!!

This weekend, I hear the weather is supposed to be fairly nice, so I plan on cleaning out the remainder of my flower beds, cleaning up my rosebushes (yellow wild roses that spread like wildfire...), cleaning up the enormous pile of leaves that blow under and into my back steps, and maybe one more dusting of the house...  I also plan to give Helen a bath (she's needed one!) and take her for a cruise or two, hang out with some friends, get some rest, and relax a little.

Jason and I need to finish up our wills and estate planning (our gift to each other for our 11th anniversary on the 29th).  In my line of work, it is very easy to see why these things get put off, but it's also astounding the situations that come as a result of others' lack of planning.  We've decided to create a trust for the kids, did our wills, durable power of attorneys, health care power of attorneys and living wills.  Wow is that hard - having to decide what you want done with your stuff when you're gone, how you want to be treated in the tragic event that you are on a ventilator and .... UGH!

However, it is also true in my line of work to see the amazing results that occur when folks have planned out how they want things to be disbursed, their care, etc.  In some families, end-of-life situations can be the end of relationships in the family as well, because there are hard feelings.  It is hopeful that we can prevent those types of situations from existing with proper planning.  ...fun stuff!

Anyhew, in other news...  We're plugging away at our construction projects, day by day.  Jason was out of commission for a little bit because of some bad back pain, but we are getting that under control now, as well.  Your continued prayers of healing are much appreciated.

We rejoice in the fact that we have had some nice rains lately.  I don't know exactly how much rain we've had lately, but I had heard around town a number near 3/4 of an inch earlier this week.  We will TAKE IT!

And .... what I have been wondering for a few months... WHEN CAN WE GO CAMPING?!?!?!?!?

Really not much going on here today. I've been studying like a mad man, it's cold here, kids are busy, same old same old. I did find out yesterday my Aunt Marlene (Mom's sister) has non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She is doing some chemo treatments in the next couple weeks, and we'll see where it goes from there -- please keep her in your prayers. I also need prayers for my friends still struggling financially. Times are tough, and we all have to make sacrifices we typically wouldn't, but hang in there -- it will all be worth it in the end. One resource I can recommend on money expertise is DaveRamsey.com -- he's the guy responsible for the Financial Peace University that Jason and I took a couple of years ago. Christmas Lists

I finally took a few moments and got the Christmas lists posted for our family!  I find it hard to believe we are at this point in the year already.  This has been a crazy year, full of roller-coaster emotions, such busy times, a few slow times, losses for some, gains for many, but it has been another year passed nonetheless. This year, we've seen many changes, and with each change, we learn a little bit more about who we are and what we're capable of. I'm going into this holiday season with a warm heart, and I hope you will too.  God has great things in store for all of us, and I can't wait to see each morning what He's prepared for me.    This past weekend, we traveled to Deadwood with my “work family”, and had a great time. Some of the guys went golfing up near Sturgis (Boulder Canyon) during the morning, but most of us ladies had spent the morning checking out the sales in the citywide garage sales. We started off the trip by meeting together at the office and “caravan-ing” the ladies to the Prairie Berry Winery. With Jason’s back being injured recently, he wasn’t up for golf, so he decided to be our “DD”…          I had never been to a wine tasting, nor a winery, and never had been to Prairie Berry.  It snowed on us on the way up (see photo at right). What an enjoyable experience it was! We were allowed to try up to five wines, (only a half an ounce each), so I tried a variety, albeit most of them were the sweet wines. I am just not a fan of dry or bitter wines.
