Dad's Poem, "Somehow America"

Dad has written many poems over the years, and he normally writes one for the Ag Banquet. Here is this years' version:

"Somehow America"

What does it mean to you
to be an American?

Of course, freedom comes to mind.
as quick as it can.

We should all honor our Veterans,
who served so well.

Show respect, salute our flag,
and help preserve the Liberty Bell.

Always push hard to keep our jobs here,
"Made in China" should strike a chord of fear!

Somehow we need to keep America on track,
by doing all we can to get our old position back.

It should bother all of us, as we head out to shop,
that American brand names with foreign tags has to stop.

Even our money says "In God We Trust."
"Made in the USA" should also be a must.

America was made from small towns and hard work,
we've made it before through tough times and a couple of jerks.

So keep in mind those who are down and out,
contact our leaders and talk, or maybe shout!

That somehow the loss of jobs going overseas,
should scare us all and bring us to our knees.

Keep the Good Lord in the middle of your heart,
as we were taught, that's a good place to start!

How cool, Jess! It's such a hard monster to conquer as big American CEO's are becoming rich on the backs of basically slave labor overseas. They can pay pennies for a toy that they sell for several dollars over here. Furthermore, it often has lead in it. Ugh. Man it's sure frustrating. :(
