What weekend?!?!?
Well, we set off to get a ton of things done this weekend, and we did! We are SOOOOO close to being ready to pour concrete on the patio we've been working on -- we might even be done by the weekend!! We worked for probably 7 or 8 hours last night, and Jeff and DeeAnna fed us a fabulous meal. He had grilled a pork roast, and we had pork roast and homemade slaw sandwiches. DIVINE! So spoiled we are!
Other than that, we are just plugging along in these last few days of summer that the kids have left. We start school Thursday. The kids spent a lot of time at the pool this weekend, since they are realizing that soon it too will be closed! We had the treat of having Andy, Matt, and Megan (the fairy god kids) at our house all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. They got along great, and all the kids were pretty worn out, as usual. They play so hard that when it's over, they usually just CRASH!
We had about 2 inches of rain in about 1/2 hour over the weekend. We took some video of some of the high water levels, and it's astounding how much water was standing around. Near the railroad tracks on first street, there has always been drainage problems, so many folks were out playing in the water. Our house was high and dry, with no issues from the rain; luckily we are quite a ways from that. We helped a few citizens clean up branches that had fallen from trees from the wind, hauled them off, and did a little clean up. I will post the video for you -- I apologize -- my Blackberry doesn't have very good video resolution, but you can see how much water was around. (Actually I will post it later, since the upload feature on our blogs has a quirk in it). Pretty unreal how much water was running on the streets!
Aunt Weezer, I hope you had a good birthday; Uncle Al & Aunt Kris, hope you were able to do something fun over the weekend, for your anniversary. I think Marv & Marlene and Jim & Marilyn's anniversaries are sometime this month, too, so happy anniversary!
Have a good Monday!
