Thoughts for Thursday

I'm so honored to be a Mom. My kids are sweet, smart, and adorable. It's not every day you get a chance to stop and think about it, but it seems like each time there is a death in the family, someone is injured, someone had a near miss, or things like that, we seem to kind of step back and re-evaluate some things. And I am!

I look forward to snuggling with them every morning, and even though it rubs my last nerve the wrong way, I am so lucky to hear them whine about doing chores and fighting with each other.

My son is Uncle Dennis' new obsession. He must be missin his grandsons, or something, but he seems to stop at least every day or two at the plant to give Spence (and the girls, of course) some candy, a couple hugs, and then he is off and running again. I think it's quite cute, and Spence just eats it up.

We're glad the tough truck is over, too. Jason and Haley drove the "Swamp Donkey" as they so cutely named it. I spent a few hours in the afternoon cutting vinyl lettering and designs to put on the sides of it, only to have it immersed in mud, and nearly invisible! Everybody made it through safely, but there weren't as many participants as in years past. There were no 2 wheel drive pickups allowed, only 4-wheel. And only one small Bronco II made it through the big mud puddle. It was so messy that when the tractor pulled participants out, once they were up on dry land again, when they opened their doors, water ran out for a little bit!! Quite funny, but only since it wasn't me in the truck!!

Anyhew -- it is lunch time for the crew again -- thanks to all for your comments, thoughts, and prayers for Grandpa Clay and our family. We visited Dixie and Linda at his house last night, and they seem to be doing ok, but will have a tough day today making all the final plans for the funeral. We'll certainly be thinking of them!

Hopefully we will see you all at the Rubber Check Races tonight!!

You do have adorable children and a precious little family. Sometimes we do have to stop and look at what wonderful lives we have, we just get so busy we forget to do that every day. Sounds like the Fair has been a busy one.
